Roles and permissions
This page helps users and admins understand why a person can see one Parsepoint page but not another. Use it when a teammate cannot open a module, a button is disabled, or an admin needs to invite someone into the organization.
Before you start
- You need admin access to invite users or manage most access settings.
- The active organization matters; access can differ across organizations.
- Module access and role access are separate user-visible concepts.
Check the active organization
Ask the user to confirm the organization shown in the top navigation.
Check the sidebar
If a module is missing from the sidebar, confirm the organization has that module and the user is assigned to it.
Check the action level
If a page opens but a button is hidden or disabled, the user may have view access without write access.
Invite or update access
Open Settings, then Members & Permissions, and use Invite User or member controls available to your role.
Common access patterns
| Track | Commonly visible work | Commonly restricted work |
|---|---|---|
| Member | View assigned modules and complete daily review tasks. | Organization-wide security, billing, and user management. |
| Admin | Manage organization settings, members, security, and module configuration. | Super-admin operations unless they are Parsepoint operators. |
| Billing admin | Manage billing settings when enabled. | Non-billing admin actions unless separately granted. |
| Parsepoint operator | Super Admin Portal for support and operations. | Customer data changes still require explicit operator intent. |
Do not ask users to work around missing access by switching organizations or using someone else’s account. Update their membership or module access instead.
What happens next
After access changes, the user may need to refresh or sign out and back in before the sidebar and page actions reflect the update.
If you do not see this option
Only users with the right admin role can open Members & Permissions and invite teammates. Some billing controls are visible only to billing admins.
Troubleshooting
If a user still cannot access a page after a role change, verify the active organization, enabled module, and whether the page requires write access rather than view access.
